On Tuesday, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, donated seventy-eight (78) Patrol Motor Vehicles to Kano State Police Command.
Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, Governor Yusuf said: “As we gather here, let me remind you that the primary responsibility of any government is the provision of security.
“The critical role of the police in maintaining law and order is undeniable. That’s why my administration is committed to supporting the efforts of the police.
“The donation of these 78 patrol motor vehicles to all police divisions in Kano State demonstrates our resolve to ensure safety and a serene business environment in the state.
“I extend my deepest appreciation to other security agencies for their unwavering commitment to security in Kano State.
“Your collaborative efforts have been invaluable in maintaining peace and stability.”
He commended Police efforts in maintaining peace and called for continued efforts in making Kano State safe.
Responding, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, represented by the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba, commended the Governor for prioritizing security and spearheading the evolution of community-based policing in the State.
He said the peaceful atmosphere we are enjoying in Kano State today is a result of His Excellency’s dogged efforts as the Chief Security Officer.
According to the IGP, the vehicles come at a time when commercial activities are fast growing in the State and with an increase in population.
However, this gesture of the State Government will motivate the Command to fulfill its constitutional mandate.
The IGP thanked Governor Yusuf for the gesture.
“We assure you that, this will motivate us to continue to serve the good people of Kano State as we pledge to protect the lives and properties of the citizens.
“Like Olivertwist, we seek more of this gesture to support us in doing our work diligently,” he added.
