Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has applauded the exceptional academic performance of students sponsored by his administration to pursue higher education in India.
During a visit to Kano students at Sharjah University in India, the Governor expressed pride in their dedication and accomplishments, describing their success as proof of the benefits of investing in education.
A statement on Tuesday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, quoted the governor affirming that the resources allocated to the scholarship program were wisely spent, as the students had surpassed expectations with their remarkable academic results.
According to the statement, Governor Yusuf emphasized his administration’s unwavering commitment to advancing education, highlighting that nurturing young talents is central to his government’s vision for a prosperous Kano State.
He revealed that his visit provided an opportunity to engage directly with the students, addressing their challenges and gathering valuable insights from the pioneer batch of over 400 students sponsored by various universities in Uganda and India as part of the 100:1 Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme.
“The visit enabled the Governor to conduct an on-the-spot assessment, aimed at enhancing preparations for the next set of beneficiaries, both for foreign and domestic scholarships, to ensure the completion of the 100:1 initiative before the end of his first tenure,” the statement added.
Governor Yusuf noted that the initiative reaffirms his administration’s belief in education as a transformative tool for societal growth and development, adding that his visit would inspire students to strive for academic excellence, both at home and abroad.
