Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has directed the State Ministry of Works to urgently commence the reconstruction of the Makera-Kangiwa road, which was recently washed away by flood.

The governor gave the directive during an on-site inspection of the damaged road at Makera, stressing the importance of restoring the vital link that connects Kangiwa and surrounding towns and villages to the state capital.

Governor Idris instructed the Ministry to engage only competent and qualified contractors for the reconstruction project, emphasizing that his administration remains committed to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Kebbi State.

He highlighted the strategic importance of the road, noting that it plays a crucial role in the state’s socio-economic development, as it serves as a major route linking Kebbi to neighboring countries.

Briefing the governor during the visit, the Commissioner for Works, Abdullahi Umar-Muslim, assured that the Ministry would ensure a reliable contractor is selected for the reconstruction. He also appealed to affected communities for patience, assuring them that work would begin soon.
