Musa Na Allah, Sokoto
Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the advancement of education in Sokoto State, pledging sustained support for all tertiary institutions, including the Federal College of Education (FCE), Gidan Madi.
He made this known on Wednesday while receiving the Governing Board of FCE Gidan Madi under the leadership of Dr Abdullahi Adamu Magonho during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Sokoto.
Congratulating the newly appointed board members, Governor Aliyu described their selection as well-deserved, acknowledging their individual and collective track records in public service.
“I have no doubt that your wealth of experience will contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of this young but highly promising institution,” he said.
“I am confident that you will justify the trust placed in you by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.”
Highlighting education as the cornerstone of national development, Governor Aliyu emphasized his administration’s prioritization of the sector.
“No nation can develop beyond the quality of its educational system,” he stated. “That is why our government is committed to supporting institutions like FCE Gidan Madi to achieve excellence.”
He further noted the importance of teacher education, expressing a desire to collaborate closely with the college to nurture a new generation of skilled and passionate educators.
The Governor also mentioned ongoing efforts to upgrade other institutions, such as the Shehu Shagari College of Education, as part of his administration’s nine-point smart agenda.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Governing Board, Dr. Abdullahi Adamu Magonho, informed the governor that the tenure of principal officers at the college was nearing completion and that the board would soon advertise the vacancies in line with due process.
