Saleh Shehu Ashaka, a Nigerian journalist and respected political commentator who served as a correspondent for the Voice of America (VOA) Hausa Service in Abuja, has died.

Family sources confirmed that Ashaka passed away on Sunday at a hospital in Cairo, Egypt, after a brief illness.

The disclosure was made during a condolence visit by Stallion Times to his family home in Farm Centre, where sympathizers gathered to mourn with his father, Alhaji Shehu Ashaka.

His death has been described as a profound loss to the journalism community, particularly within the Hausa media landscape, where he was known for his insightful analysis and commitment to public affairs reporting.

He left behind two wives and a child.

According to the family, he will be buried on Monday in Cairo in accordance with Islamic rites.
