FG Probes Viral Video Alleging Neglect of Accident Victims at FMC Jabi

Editor

The Federal Government has launched an investigation into a viral video allegedly showing accident victims being neglected at the Emergency Unit of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, Abuja.

The video, initially shared by LIB, features a man expressing frustration after hospital staff reportedly failed to attend to the victims he had brought in.

According to the man, he found the victims at the scene of an accident and transported them to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

He alleged that staff refused to provide immediate care, with one reportedly citing the absence of gloves.

However, the video later shows hospital personnel assisting in moving one of the critically injured victims into the emergency unit. Other injured individuals were seen making their way into the facility, some visibly struggling.

In response, the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Obadiah Gana, confirmed in a statement that a thorough investigation is underway.

Preliminary findings suggest that the emergency unit had a sufficient stock of essential medical supplies, including gloves, resuscitation tools, and medications.

The hospital also stated that there were no shortages of wheelchairs or trolleys.

Gana reaffirmed FMC Abuja’s commitment to transparency and quality healthcare delivery, noting that the facility provides various feedback channels, such as phone lines, QR codes, and email contacts, to enable communication between patients, the public, and hospital management.
