A number of employees of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) gathered on Monday to demonstrate at the FCTA headquarters located in Area 11, Abuja.

The protest, organized by the Joint Union Action Committee, featured placards bearing messages such as “non-payment of AEPB enforcement squad, inaccessibility of the salary portal to salary desk officers and withheld salaries and allowances of workers for over 6 months”.

“They have taken several actions such as writing letters since 2023 to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike to intervene but all efforts proved abortive,” the union’s president, Rifkatu Iortyer stated

She went on to deliver a warning to the FCT administration, stating “They have three days to meet our demands or we will resort to different measures.”

Among the union’s list of grievances are unpaid five-month wage awards, halted allowances and salaries of FCT teachers, lack of staff training, continued deductions for the national housing fund, and delayed staff promotions for 2023 through 2025.
