EFCC Arrests 25 Suspects For Alleged Internet Fraud in Kano

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 25 undergraduate students of Bayero University Kano (BUK) for alleged involvement in internet fraud.

The suspects were apprehended on Monday, July 21, 2025, during a sting operation conducted opposite the university’s New Site.

The operation followed weeks of surveillance based on actionable intelligence linking the individuals to cybercrime, including identity theft and online financial scams.

The EFCC disclosed the arrests in a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, confirming that all those arrested are students of the institution.

During the raid, several items were recovered, including mobile phones, laptops, internet routers, and a Honda Accord vehicle believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes.

The names of the arrested suspects include: Ismaíl Nura, Suuleyman Ayeh, Usman Abdulrazaq, Emmanuel Chigozie, Akabe Seth, Daniel Imoter, Abdulganiyu Jimoh, Jafar Abubakar, Usman Nuraddeen, Mohammad Adnan, and Abubakar Abusufyan.

Others are Abdulmalik Ibrahim, Abubakar Sadiq, Daniel Masamu, Abdulrasheed Abdulsamad, Issac Dosunu, Nuraddeen Ogunbiyi, Onyeyemi Kaleem, Miracle Joseph, Danjuma Musa, Ibrahim Mubaraq, Yusuf Salihu, Lawal Ibrahim Edebo, Abdulmajeed Suleiman, and Dauda Abdulhamid.

The Commission stated that all suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
