Davido Pledges ₦300m to Combat Drug Abuse

News Desk

Nigerian music superstar Davido has revealed plans to mark his birthday this year with a generous donation of ₦300 million, continuing his tradition of giving back to society.

The musician announced on Monday via his official X handle that the funds would go to orphanages and a charity focused on helping young people combat drug abuse and addiction.

“Once again, my birthday this year, we are donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse and addiction,” he wrote. “This year, it’s ₦300m. Details to follow soon.”

This marks another milestone in Davido’s philanthropic efforts, as the award-winning artist has consistently used his platform and wealth to support vulnerable communities, especially orphans and at-risk youth. It’s not the first time the artist has made a huge contribution to foster homes in Nigeria.

Earlier this year, Davido announced a ₦300 million donation to orphanages across the country in February, reinforcing his commitment to improving the lives of children in need.

The singer’s charitable donations have become a key feature of his birthday celebrations. In November 2021, Davido made headlines by donating ₦250 million to 292 orphanages across Nigeria for his 29th birthday.

In July 2023, he donated ₦237 million to over 400 orphanages in a similar effort to support orphaned and vulnerable children.
