Iran’s health authorities are urging the public to wear masks in crowded areas as COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the country.
Qobad Moradi, an official from the Ministry of Health, told Mehr News Agency that while the coronavirus is spreading again, there is currently “no serious concern about an emergency situation.”
According to recent data from the Health Ministry, the rate of respiratory illnesses caused by COVID-19 and influenza has doubled, rising from two to four percent.
Hospitals are now admitting between three to six patients per day who test positive for COVID-19.
In response, Deputy Health Minister Alireza Raisi has directed medical universities to step up preventive efforts, especially targeting the spread of COVID-19 and influenza.
