Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has expelled more than 60 students across various departments for their involvement in examination malpractices, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding academic standards.

The decision was taken at the university’s 43rd statutory Senate meeting held on 7 January 2026, after a comprehensive review of reports and recommendations from relevant academic and disciplinary committees.

BUK disclosed the development in an official statement published on its verified Facebook page, confirming that the affected students were found guilty of violating the institution’s examination rules and regulations.

The management noted that each case was carefully examined by the Senate before the expulsions were approved.

“After reviewing the cases, the Senate approved the expulsion of the students in accordance with the university’s examination regulations,” the statement said.

The university reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on examination misconduct, emphasizing that strict sanctions would continue to be enforced to deter future violations.

BUK further warned students that any form of examination malpractice would attract severe consequences, regardless of status or department, as it remains committed to upholding academic integrity and discipline.
