The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the dissolution of its Enugu State Executive Committee and the constitution of a seven-member Caretaker Committee to oversee the party’s affairs in the state.
The decision was reached during the 179th meeting of the NWC held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, under the chairmanship of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.
According to a statement signed by Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, the dissolution followed a comprehensive review of the state of the party in Enugu State.
The newly appointed Caretaker Committee will be inaugurated on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
The committee is chaired by Dr. Ben Nwoye, with H.E. Mrs. Fidelia Njoeze, Comrade Peter Chime, Dr. (Mrs.) Oby Ajih, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, and Engr. Emma Ekeh as members, while Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh will serve as secretary.
The NWC also considered the report of the APC Ekiti State Governorship Aspirant Screening Exercise, clearing Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo to contest the forthcoming primary election.
Two aspirants, Engr. Ojo Kayode and Mrs. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi, were disqualified.
In addition, the committee announced that the APC National Reconciliation Committee, chaired by former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande, will be inaugurated at a date to be announced later.
The timetable for party congresses across the country will also be released soon, while the APC Constitution Amendment Committee is expected to commence public hearings within October 2025.
The statement further disclosed that the inauguration of the APC Anambra State Governorship National Campaign Council will take place in the coming days as part of preparations for the state’s governorship election.
