Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu on Saturday, said that his administration has deeply remained committed to supporting the pillars of Islamic knowledge and propagation, especially the revered Malaman Zaure, who plays a vital role in guiding society towards righteousness.

The Governor made the remarks while distributing cash assistance and food stuffs to esteemed scholars, so as to observe Ramadan with ease and dignity.

He said: “This is in continuation of our dedication to this noble cause. Last year, we extended similar support, and by the grace of Allah, we will continue this initiative in the years to come.”

“Beyond the sacred month of Ramadan, our government has made substantial strides in promoting Islamic affairs and Da’awah.

“Observance of prayer is the second of the five pillars of Islam, and being a compulsory act, it is imperative to strengthen the role of those leading congregational prayers.

“We have introduced a monthly allowance for Imams, their deputies, and Muazzims, recognizing their invaluable contributions to Islam.

“Additionally, we provide monthly financial support to over 90 Jumu’at mosques, ensuring the sustainability and comfort of our places of worship.”

“In line with the Islamic advocacy to keep mosques cleaner and more beautiful than our homes, we have embarked on remodeling Jumu’at mosques across the state.

“Alhamdulillah, many of these mosques have already been completed and commissioned, while others are at various stages of completion.

“These efforts demonstrate our unwavering commitment to strengthening Islamic institutions and preserving our religious heritage.”

“To further enhance the propagation of Islamic knowledge, we have implemented several initiatives. These include the provision of vehicles to various Islamic organizations in the state, easing their movement for Islamic propagation programs within the state and beyond.

“Furthermore, we have also revived the State Hisbah board which was abandoned.

“We have provided the corps with office accommodation, patrol vehicles, and all necessary working tools, to check immoral and sinful acts that attract severe consequences in the sight of our Creator.

“Distinguished audience, I reassure you that this administration remains steadfast in its mission to uphold and promote Islamic affairs.

“We will continue to support our religious leaders, enhance the propagation of Islamic knowledge, and ensure that our faith remains at the heart of governance. As we continue to observe Ramadan.

“Let us embrace the values of unity, patience, and compassion. I also take this opportunity to encourage our respected scholars to continue preaching peace in Nigeria, so we can maintain a peaceful, united, and egalitarian society.

“We will distribute pumping machines, grinding machines, and fertilizers to 91 communities across the 23 local government areas of the state.

“This is part of our efforts to boost irrigation activities, reduce unemployment, and create wealth for our people.

“Today’s program is just one of many initiatives aimed at boosting food production and reducing poverty, particularly in our rural areas.

“I appeal to the beneficiaries of this program to use these resources wisely so that we can achieve the intended purpose. On our part, we will continue to implement programs like this to reduce poverty and address the challenges faced by our youth.

“As we continue to observe Ramadan, let us embody the values of unity, patience, and compassion. May Allah (SWT) accept our fasting, prayers, and charitable deeds. May He grant us the wisdom to lead with justice and the strength to serve with sincerity.”
