Aliyu Inaugurates 19 Member Economic Advisory Council

Governor Aliyu of Sokoto State has inaugurated a 19-man economic advisory council to champion the reformation of the state’s economy.

Inaugurating the council on Sunday at the Government House chamber, the governor said the new council aims to help revitalize the state economy through job creation, the attraction of federal government projects to the state as well as a thorough analysis of state government policies for the good of the state and the country

 “We are deeply grateful and I express my deepest appreciation to each of you for accepting this invitation to serve and drive meaningful change that can shape the future of our economy,” he said.

“We will do everything possible to support you in the cause of your laborious tasks to achieve the desired objective.”

The council members were drawn from various sectors including Academia, Corporate bodies, industrial, Upstream and downstream sectors, Individuals, and financial and business institutions.

The newly inaugurated council members include Bello Maccido,  (Wakilin Sokoto) as Chairman, Umar Ajiya Isa as Co-Chair; Sen. Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir member, Sen Ibrahim Danbaba Dambuwa member, state Accountant General member, Abdulrahman Musa Bashar member, commissioner of justice member, Chairman Board of internal revenue member, Faruku Maishanu member and Special Adviser on Economic Affairs member and secretary of the advisory council.

Others are Prof. Musa Kirfi member, Prof Nasiru Yauri member, prof. Lawal Suleiman Bilbis member, Abdulkadir J. Bello member, Commissioner Digital Economy member, Olusenu Oduwale MBA member, and Abdullahi Aminu Tafida member

In his post-inaugural speech, the Advisory Council Chairman, Bello Maccido (Wakilin Sokoto) appreciate the Governor on behalf of the council members for identifying with their wealth of experience and allowing them to contribute their quarter to the state’s economic development.

“I am optimistic with the caliber of highly skilled people in the council, the goals of its establishment will be achieved.

“We will make wider consultations with individuals and groups to borrow aleaf and reflect in our activities where necessary.
