Aliyu Calls for Collective Action Against Banditry During Sallah Homage to Sultan

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has called on all segments of society to unite in the fight against banditry in the state.

He appealed during his Sallah homage to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, at the Sultan’s palace.

During the visit, Governor Aliyu emphasized the importance of collective efforts to address the growing security challenges in the region. He stressed that the battle against insecurity requires the involvement of every citizen, institution, and stakeholder in the state.

The governor highlighted the significant progress made by his administration in combating insecurity. He attributed these successes to the tireless prayers of the people, the strong resolve of the state government, and the collaborative efforts of security agencies. Governor Aliyu acknowledged the invaluable support of the security forces, who have been instrumental in ensuring the safety of the state.

A key achievement discussed by the governor was the establishment of the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps, which was recently launched by his administration. Governor Aliyu explained that the Corps has played a crucial role in supporting conventional security forces in maintaining peace and order across Sokoto State.

He further commended the traditional institutions for their significant role in curbing banditry. The governor called for the continued support of these institutions, recognizing their vital contribution to maintaining peace within the state.

In addition to his security-focused message, Governor Aliyu reiterated his administration’s unwavering support for Islamic propagation. He praised wealthy individuals in the state for their generosity, especially in establishing Ramadan feeding centers to support the less privileged within their communities.

Governor Aliyu also expressed gratitude to Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar for his leadership and contributions to Da’awah (Islamic propagation). He called for continued guidance and support from the revered traditional ruler, recognizing the Sultan’s vital role in promoting peace and unity in the state.

In his response, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar expressed his appreciation for Governor Aliyu’s various intervention programs. The Sultan specifically commended the governor’s support for orphans, the needy, the physically challenged, and Islamic scholars in Sokoto State. He acknowledged the governor’s commitment to the welfare of the people and urged the continuation of these programs.

The Sultan also praised the state government’s ongoing infrastructural development projects, highlighting their positive impact on the people. He encouraged Governor Aliyu to sustain these initiatives, emphasizing that they contribute to the overall progress and development of Sokoto State.

Furthermore, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar urged the people of Sokoto to continue offering prayers for their leaders. He emphasized that the success of the government’s efforts in developing the state and achieving lasting peace depends on the continued support of the citizens.

The Sallah homage event was attended by a range of dignitaries, reflecting the significance of the occasion. Key attendees included APC leader Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Sokoto State Deputy Governor Idris Muhammed Gobir, Minister of State for Works Barrister Bello Goronyo, former Deputy Governor Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo, and Sokoto State Chief Judge Muhammad Sa’idu Sifawa.

Other notable figures at the event included Sokoto Grand Kadi Sodangi Achida, House Leader Bello Idris, State APC Chairman Isa Saddiq Achida, Deputy Speaker Kabir Ibrahim Kware, and members of the State House of Assembly, including Bala Hassan and Nasiru Shehu. The Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, Chief of Staff Aminu Haliru Dikko, along with commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants, and traditional rulers, were also present.

The event underscored the importance of collaboration between the government, religious institutions, and the people in addressing the security challenges and fostering development in Sokoto State. It highlighted the need for continued unity and collective action to ensure a peaceful and prosperous future for the state.
