In a landmark ceremony held at the Dream Event Centre in Makurdi on Monday, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Governor of Benue State, inaugurated a transformational program targeted at equipping 40,000 state and local government civil servants on e-governance tools and ICT skills.

This enthusiastic initiative not only promises to build up the productivity of governance but also marks a momentous step towards a digitally-driven economy in the state.

Governor Alia pointed out that today’s event is not just the launch of modern technological platforms but a significant empowerment of the state’s workforce.

“We are building up transparency and embracing the unlimited possibilities of a digitally driven economy,” he stated.

The introduction of the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), the Benue State Geographic Information Systems (BENGIS) Portal, and the Benue Youth Startup and Innovation Support Portal are hovered to facilitate government operations and foster modernization.

The training program is constructed to provide civil servants with essential digital skills, ensuring that they can adequately maneuver and utilize modern systems.

Governor Alia declared, “Through this training, we are fostering a future-ready civil service that can readjust to the demands of a rapidly emerging world.”

This drive is an essential step in modernizing governance and strengthening service delivery across the state.

The Governor also expressed gratitude to numerous partners, including the Digital Bridge Institute, for their partnership in presenting world-class training programs.

He highlighted how the EDMS will revolutionize record management within government institutions, while the BENGIS Portal will expedite smooth access to land management services, thereby cutting down bureaucratic setbacks for the public.

Furthermore, the launch of the Benue Youth Startup and Innovation Support Portal is a diplomatic measure to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit among the state’s youth.

This platform aims to produce capabilities, mentorship, and financial assistance to young innovators, contributing substantially to job creation and economic prosperity in Benue.

As the state celebrates these substantial milestones, Governor Alia called for ongoing collaboration and investment in digital infrastructure. He appealed to both public and private associates to join in building an active, comprehensive, and innovative Benue State.

“Together, let us build a digital ecosystem that empowers our youth and fosters sustainable development,” he concluded, highlighting the importance of community engagement in this transformative journey.
