Sokoto State Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project has commenced training officials to conduct Annual School Enumeration.
The one-day training workshop held at Sultan Maccido Institute for Qur’an and General Studies is meant to enlighten coordinators, supervisors, and enumerators on the effective completion of the Annual School Census (ASC) questionnaire.
The state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Sokoto State, Prof. Ahmed Ladan Ala, represented by the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Chika Murtala, emphasized the importance of the ASC in school administration.
Ala stated that the census will serve as a crucial tool for the government to develop its action plan for the education sector.
He urged participants to remain objective and diligent in carrying out the exercise to ensure accurate data collection.
The State Project Coordinator of AGILE, Dr. Mansur Isa Buhari, represented by Muhammad Mainasara, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the project, also charged the participants to be proactive in conducting the ASC.
He stressed that reliable and accurate data is essential for the government to assess current educational needs and plan effectively for future interventions.
The resource persons at the training were Dr. Wadata Dangaladima from Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, and Hafiz Ibrahim Dogon Daji, Head of the Education Management Information System (EMIS) at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
The event was attended by key education stakeholders, including the President of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Sokoto State, and other dignitaries.
The new initiative however highlighted the state government’s commitment to enhancing the education of girl child through numerous AGILE programs aimed at improving education planning and administration through effective data collection.
