The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released its official timetable for the conduct of its 2026 primary elections, outlining a detailed schedule and fee structure aimed at promoting internal democracy and inclusivity.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the timetable underscores its commitment to transparency, orderliness, and strict adherence to electoral guidelines.
According to the schedule, the sale of nomination forms will run from 5 to May 10, 2026, while the submission of completed forms is slated for 11 to May 13, 2026. Screening of aspirants is expected to take place between 14 May and 15 May, with the publication of screening results scheduled for 17 May.
The party added that appeals arising from the screening process will be heard between 18 May and May 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on 20 May.
Primary elections are set to begin on 21 May 2026, with contests for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats held simultaneously at the ward level. Governorship primaries will follow on May 22, while the presidential primary is scheduled for 25 May.
The process will culminate in a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee on 26 May and a Special National Convention on 27 May, where final ratifications of candidates are expected.
In addition, the ADC announced a structured fee regime for nomination forms across elective positions. The presidential form is pegged at N100 million, governorship at N50 million, Senate at N20 million, House of Representatives at N10 million, and State House of Assembly at N3 million.
To enhance participation, the party introduced concessions, offering a 50 percent discount for youths and a 25 percent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.
The party called on its members, stakeholders, and aspirants to strictly comply with the outlined timetable and guidelines to ensure a smooth and credible primary election process.
