The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Dadi Adare (Dallatun Gobir), has directed all local government chairmen across Sokoto State to ensure full attendance and active participation in the ongoing daily immunization review meetings within their respective council areas.

Adare gave the order while reaffirming his ministry’s commitment to the success of the ongoing Measles-Rubella, Routine Immunization (RI), and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaigns.

He stressed that attendance at the review meetings is non-negotiable, adding that chairmen must take full ownership of the exercise, provide leadership, and ensure effective community mobilization for maximum coverage.

“The daily review meetings are crucial for evaluating progress, addressing challenges, and refining strategies.

“No chairman should delegate this duty. Your presence reflects commitment to the health and well-being of your people,” the Commissioner stated.

Adare highlighted the proactive role of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in supporting the state’s immunization efforts through logistics, coordination, and supervision.

He disclosed that, in line with Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto’s directive, the ministry recently donated dozens of refrigerators to strengthen the cold chain system for safe vaccine storage across all local government areas.

He also commended the strong collaboration between his ministry and the Ministry of Health, describing it as a model partnership that has enhanced the effectiveness of Sokoto’s immunization campaign.

“Immunization remains one of the most vital public health interventions capable of protecting our children and women from preventable but deadly diseases,” Adare said.

He further urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community influencers to intensify public enlightenment, dispel misinformation, and encourage full participation—especially in remote and hard-to-reach communities.

“Immunization is not just a government responsibility; it is a shared moral obligation to protect our future generations,” he noted.

“Every vaccinated child represents a life saved, and every community that supports this campaign is investing in a healthier Sokoto State.”

The ongoing immunization campaign, jointly implemented by the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA) and development partners—targets children aged 9 months to 14 years for Measles-Rubella vaccination, children under 5 years for Polio, and girls aged 9 years for HPV vaccination.
