COAS Reaffirms Empathetic Leadership, Commissions Projects at 1 Division Operational Tour

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reiterated his commitment to empathetic leadership and assured Nigerian Army personnel that their welfare remains a top priority.

The COAS made this pledge during his maiden operational visit to Headquarters 1 Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, as part of his ongoing tour of formations and units across the Nigerian Army.

Addressing officers and soldiers during the visit, Lt Gen Oluyede emphasized his dedication to fostering a professional, well-equipped, and motivated force. He highlighted his plans to address accommodation challenges, ensuring that every soldier has access to proper housing.

The COAS also underscored the importance of rigorous training to maintain a combat-ready and result-oriented army.

He called on officers to take full ownership of their responsibilities, uphold professionalism, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Nigerian Army.

Upon arrival, the COAS was welcomed with a well-turned-out quarter guard and received a comprehensive briefing on the operational activities of 1 Division by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General Mayirenso Lander Saraso.

As part of the visit, Lt Gen Oluyede commissioned several key projects aimed at improving the welfare of personnel. These included the 1 Division Officers’ Mess Annex at Dallet Barracks and the remodeled Corporals Below Quarters at Kotoko Barracks, Ribadu Cantonment.

Each newly commissioned block consists of 30 housing units designed to enhance the living standards of troops.

In his remarks, the GOC expressed profound gratitude to the COAS for his visit and assured him of the unwavering loyalty and dedication of the Division’s troops.

Highlights of the visit included an interactive session with the troops and the commissioning of various welfare-driven projects, further cementing the COAS’s commitment to the well-being and professional development of Nigerian Army personnel.
