Court Case Will Not Disrupt LG Election – ZASIEC

Editor

Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) has said the court case filed by the State All Progressives Congress (APC) will not disrupt the forthcoming local government election in the state.

Fielding questions from the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Gusau, the ZASIEC Executive Chairman, Mallam Bala Aliyu Gusau, said that he will address journalists shortly after the court case on November 13, 2024.

According to him, everything is moving according to plan, irrespective of the court case, and he pleaded with newsmen to give their maximum support for the success of the forthcoming local government election on November 16th, 2024.

Gusau said that journalists are the reliable watchdogs of society, adding that no responsible organization can treat the press with disdain.

He made this statement while briefing newsmen on the preparations for the election, mentioning that candidates from many political parties in the state have already purchased their nomination forms.

“I have repeatedly vowed that the election will be free, fair, credible, and acceptable to all political parties in the state, irrespective of the ruling party,” he said.

He also called on the aggrieved All Progressives Congress (APC) to withdraw their suit from the court and join forces in the effort to rebuild Zamfara State and make it a better place for all to live in.

He advised the number one opposition party in the state to contribute positively so that good governance can prevail in the state.

“The present administration, led by Dauda Lawal, does not segregate, irrespective of political affiliation. So I am pleading with the APC in the state to shun political differences and join forces for the progress of the entire state,” he added.
