Senator representing Kano Central and Deputy Minority Whip in the Senate, Senator Rufai Sani Hanga, has resigned from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a resignation letter dated 3 August 2026, addressed to the party chairman of Dakata Ward in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Sen. Hanga stated that his resignation takes immediate effect.
The Senator said he had decided after careful reflection, explaining that he was leaving the party to focus on personal matters and his career advancement.
Sen. Hanga expressed appreciation to the party’s ward leadership, executive committee, and all NDC members for the support, opportunities, and cooperation they extended to him during his time in the party.
He also requested that his name be removed from the party’s membership register at the ward level and confirmed that he had returned his NDC membership card.
The lawmaker wished the party and its member’s success in their future activities.
However, Hanga did not indicate in his resignation letter whether he intends to join another political party.
