Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, on Tuesday, presented a proposed budget of N498 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, titled the “Sustainable Growth Budget,” to the State House of Assembly in Calabar.

Presenting the breakdown, Otu revealed that N328 billion (66%) is earmarked for capital expenditure, while N170 billion (34%) is allocated for recurrent spending.

He noted that the budget aligns with specific Sustainable Development Goals, including Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Industry and Innovation, and Peace and Justice.

Otu stated, “The 2025 budget is designed around the SDG benchmarks to ensure continuity of key projects and programmes that require rollover into the new fiscal year.”

He described the budget as a product of extensive consultations and a reflection of the aspirations of Cross River residents.

Speaker of the Cross River House of Assembly, Elvert Ayambem, expressed confidence that the budget will drive meaningful development across the state.

He commended Otu’s administration for its achievements, including the regular payment of salaries and gratuities to civil servants.
