Jigawa State Police Command has assured residents of adequate security arrangements ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna A. Yahaya, gave the assurance in a statement issued on behalf of officers and men of the Command, congratulating the people of Jigawa State and the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Sallah festivities.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, Police in the state has activated robust security measures and deployed operational assets across the state to ensure a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free celebration before, during, and after the festivities.

“Personnel from tactical and conventional units, including the Violent Crime Response Unit, patrol teams, intelligence operatives, traffic officers, EOD, and PMF personnel, as well as undercover operatives, have been strategically deployed to Eid praying grounds, recreational centres, markets, highways, motor parks, and other public places,” the statement added.

The Command added that it is collaborating with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to intensify intelligence gathering, confidence-building patrols, stop-and-search operations, and surveillance activities aimed at preventing crime and maintaining public order throughout the festive period.

CP Yahaya also directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and supervising officers to remain vigilant, proactive, and professional in carrying out their constitutional duties.

He further charged officers to ensure effective visibility policing and prompt response to distress calls within their respective areas of responsibility.

While congratulating residents for witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the police appealed to members of the public to remain law-abiding and security conscious, urging them to cooperate with security personnel by providing timely and useful information that could help prevent crime and criminality.

The Command also advised parents and guardians to caution their wards against reckless driving, dangerous horse riding, substance abuse, and other acts capable of breaching public peace during the celebration.

Reiterating its commitment to the protection of lives and property, the police assured residents that all necessary measures had been put in place to ensure that Jigawa State remains peaceful and secure throughout the Sallah festivities.

The Commissioner of Police wished Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyous, and memorable Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
