The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested one suspected railway vandal involved in the destruction and theft of eleven rail line clips belonging to the ongoing Federal Government railway modernization project linking Kaduna to Kano.

The suspect, Sani Isma’il, 22 years, resident of Kuya village, Ikara local government, Kaduna state, was apprehended by vigilant operatives of the Corps following credible intelligence at a village in Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect vandalized and removed eleven rail line clips installed on the new standard gauge railway project currently under construction by the Federal Government of Nigeria. He was also found in possession with a hammer which he used in perpetrating the nefarious act.

The State Commandant of the corps in Kano, Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama, condemned the act, describing it as economic sabotage capable of frustrating the government’s effort toward infrastructural development and national economic growth.

He warned vandals and other criminal elements to desist from tampering with critical national assets and infrastructure or face the full wrath of the law.

The Commandant reaffirmed the commitment of the Corps to protecting all critical national assets and infrastructure across the state, particularly strategic projects executed by the Federal Government.

He further assured members of the public that the suspect will be prosecuted accordingly upon completion of investigation.

He also called on residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and useful information that will assist in curbing acts of vandalism and other criminal activities in their communities.

Similarly, the NSCDC in Kano has also nabbed two suspected impersonators, Yusuf Usman 22yrs and Muhd Auwal all residents of Kawo Jirga, Nassarawa local government, Kano State.

Before their arrest, the duo were parading themselves as civil defence volunteers, in reality they are not having no record of being captured on the volunteers database.

They had found a location with an NSCDC logo molesting and maltreating a social media comedian, an act akin to abuse of fundamental human rights.

Investigation into the case has been concluded and necessary legal actions will be taken against the two (2) suspected fake volunteers.
