Kano Donates Three Vehicles to Boost NDLEA Anti-drugs War

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kano Strategic Command, has received three operational vehicles from the Kano State Government to strengthen its fight against drug abuse and trafficking in the state.

The donation was confirmed in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Sadiq Maigatari, made available to PUNCH Online on Friday.

According to the statement, the vehicles were handed over on Thursday, April 9, 2026, to the State Commander, Dahiru Lawal, by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ibrahim, on behalf of Governor Abba Yusuf.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Secretary to the State Government described the donation as a strategic intervention aimed at boosting the operational capacity of the NDLEA in its ongoing efforts to curb substance abuse and related crimes in Kano State.

He noted that drug abuse remains a major driver of criminal activity and other social vices, stressing the need for sustained collaboration between the government and security agencies to safeguard communities.

In his response, Commander Lawal expressed appreciation to the state government for the support, assuring that the vehicles would be deployed judiciously to enhance enforcement operations across the state.

He said the additional logistics would strengthen efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and intensify the closure of identified drug joints within Kano.
