Hadejia Emirate Zakat Committee Distributes N7.8m to Needy in Jigawa Community

The Hadejia Emirate Zakat Committee has distributed a total of N7.8 million in cash and food items to vulnerable residents in the Yalo community, Kaugama Local Government Area of Jigawa State, as part of the 2026 Zakat exercise across the emirate.

Out of the total amount, N5.6 million was disbursed in cash, while food items worth N2.2 million were also distributed to beneficiaries.

The Secretary of the Zakat Committee, Engineer Ismail Garba Barde, disclosed this to the Local Government Information Officer after compiling the distribution data. He explained that the funds and food items were collected and distributed by the committee to support needy individuals in the community.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Zakat Committee, Talban Hadejia, Barrister Abdulfattah Abdulwahab, represented by Wakilin ’Yan Kasuwa, Alhaji Muhammad Garba Dankundi, urged wealthy individuals to faithfully pay Zakat from their wealth in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Also speaking, an Islamic cleric, Dr. Umar Nasarawa, emphasized the spiritual and social benefits of giving Zakat, noting that it contributes to wealth growth and promotes peace and stability within society.

The District Head of Yalo, Ajiyan Hadejia, Alhaji Muhammad Magarya, called on affluent individuals and farmers to intensify their support through Zakat.

He also commended the Emirate Zakat Committee for its commitment to ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most.
