Hundreds of vulnerable residents in Rano Local Government Area are benefiting from daily Iftar meals provided by the local government council with support from the Kano State Government as part of efforts to assist the less privileged during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Chairman of the council, Muhammad Naziru Ya’u Rano, disclosed this while speaking on the ongoing feeding program being held daily at the local government secretariat in Rano town.
According to him, the initiative has attracted hundreds of needy residents who gather every evening to receive Iftar meals to break their fast.
A statement issued on Friday by the Zonal Information Officer in charge of the Rano Zone, Abdullahi Musa Gyadi Gyadi, said the council had constituted a special committee to ensure fairness and transparency in the distribution process.
The chairman explained that the committee was established to supervise the exercise and ensure that the meals reach the intended beneficiaries.
He also commended the state government under the leadership of Abba Kabir Yusuf for supporting the Iftar feeding program.
Rano further expressed satisfaction with the conduct of officials handling the distribution, noting that they had carried out their duties with honesty and a strong sense of responsibility.
In his remarks, the Director of Personnel Management in the council, Ado Dan’azumi, also praised both the Kano State Government and the Rano Local Government Council for providing bags of rice to support local government staff during Ramadan.
He urged staff members to use the remaining days of the fasting period to offer prayers for forgiveness, peace, and continued progress for Rano, Kano State, and Nigeria as a whole.
