CHRICED Mourns Passing of Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago

The Board of Directors, Management, and Staff of the Resource Centre for Human Rights & Civic Education (CHRICED) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned scholar and public servant, Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago of Bayero University Kano (BUK), describing his passing as a painful loss to the academic community and the public service sector.

In a statement issued by its Executive Director, Comrade Dr. Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi, CHRICED said Professor Dandago’s death has left a huge void among colleagues, students, and institutions that benefited from his knowledge, mentorship, and professional integrity.

According to the statement, Professor Dandago was not only a distinguished academic but also a steadfast friend and dependable ally of CHRICED in its mission to promote human rights, accountability, justice, and civic enlightenment.

“Despite his demanding professional commitments, he remained remarkably generous with his time, intellect, and network.

“Through his wide connections with academics and professionals at Bayero University Kano and beyond, he enabled CHRICED to collaborate and draw valuable insights that enhanced the quality and reach of its our programs.

CHRICED described the late professor as a man of integrity, humility, and quiet dedication to the advancement of knowledge and public service.

As a respected professor of accounting and public finance, he made significant scholarly contributions that enriched academic discourse while shaping generations of students and professionals.

CHRICED also highlighted his commitment to mentorship, collaboration, and intellectual engagement, noting that these qualities reflected the highest ideals of the academic tradition.

“Those who worked closely with him will remember a dependable and thoughtful individual who was always willing to support causes that advanced the public good.

His belief in the importance of knowledge, institutional collaboration, and responsible public service resonated strongly with CHRICED’s mission of promoting social justice, transparency, and democratic accountability,” the statement added.

CHRICED noted that although Professor Dandago’s death is deeply painful, his legacy as a scholar, mentor, public servant, and supporter of progressive civic initiatives will remain enduring.

The organisation extended its heartfelt condolences to the late professor’s family, colleagues, students, and the entire academic community, praying that Almighty Allah grants him Aljannatul Firdaus and gives those he left behind the strength to bear the loss.
