CAF Moves WAFCON 2026 to July

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, on Thursday announced the postponement of 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Completesports.com reports.

The biennial competition was initially scheduled for 17 March to 3 April 2026.

It will now run from 25 July – 16 August, 2026, according to the continent’s soccer govering.

CAF said it took the decision to ensure the success of the competition, in the light of certain unforseen circumstances.

“Preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON 2026 are underway and all the parties are confident that it will be very successful,” reads a statement on CAF’s official website.

WAFCON 2026 will also serve as qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria won the title at last edition of the competition also hosted by Morocco.
