Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commissioned 40 refurbished vehicles belonging to the State Transport Company, in a move that underscores his administration’s commitment to revitalising public transportation and improving mobility across the state.
This was contained in a statement made available by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad in Kano on Monday.
Speaking at the commissioning held at the Government House, the Governor stated that the rehabilitation of the vehicles forms part of his government’s broader agenda to strengthen public infrastructure, create employment opportunities, and ease transportation challenges faced by residents.
He noted that his administration remains committed to restoring the efficiency and dignity of state-owned enterprises through improved management structures, proper maintenance of public assets, and job creation initiatives.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasised that the transportation sector plays a vital role in economic development, urging staff of the transport company to ensure proper maintenance of the vehicles and to discharge their duties with integrity and professionalism.
He further assured that his government will continue to invest in key sectors to drive sustainable development and improve the welfare of the people of Kano State.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of the State Transport Company (Kano Line), Sa’idu Abdullahi, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his unwavering support and determination to reposition the company, stating that the initiative will significantly enhance operations and boost the transportation sector in the state.
Alhaji Abdullahi Sa’idu added that the operation of the vehicles has covered 24 states and some West African countries saying that plans are on the pipeline for the expansion of the company’s coverage.
