Kano Moves to Tackle Ongoing Electricity Supply Challenges

Kano State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Engr. Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu, has assured residents of government intervention to address persistent electricity supply challenges across the state.

He gave the assurance while receiving a courtesy visit from a delegation of residents from Kibiya Local Government Area at his office.

Engr. Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to resolving the challenges of unreliable electricity supply. He noted that government clearly understands the hardship caused by frequent power outages and is working tirelessly to improve the situation.

The Commissioner outlined ongoing initiatives aimed at upgrading power infrastructure, increasing generation capacity, and strengthening electricity distribution networks across the state.

He assured the delegation that their concerns would be treated as a priority and addressed promptly.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Sarkin Kibiya Dan Malikin Rano, Ahmad Ado Kibiya, said the visit was to express appreciation to the Commissioner for his concern and swift response to the frequent power outages, voltage fluctuations, and inadequate electricity infrastructure affecting their area.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Kibiya Communities Development Initiative, Malam Abubakar Inuwa, expressed gratitude to the state government and the Commissioner for their willingness to engage directly with the community. He pledged the community’s support for government efforts to improve electricity supply.

The delegation appealed to the Commissioner to expedite actions to restore stable power supply, noting that some areas had been without electricity for over four years.

They emphasized the negative impact of the situation on businesses, healthcare delivery, and the overall quality of life of residents.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Managing Director, Kano Hydro and Development Company, Engr. Abduljabbar Muhammad Nanono, as well as officials from the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy.
