Jigawa State Governor, Malam Dr. Umar Namadi, has signed into law the Jigawa State Appropriation Law 2026.
It has a total budget size of over N1.19 trillion covering both the state government and the 27 local government councils.
Speaking at the signing ceremony held in Dutse, Governor Namadi disclosed that the 2026 budget for the Jigawa State Government stands at N901.84 billion, while the consolidated budget of the 27 local government councils amounts to N288.85 billion.
The governor described the 2026 budget as a “citizens’ budget,” noting that it was the product of an extensive citizen engagement programme conducted across the state to capture the needs, priorities and aspirations of the people.
“This budget truly reflects the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Jigawa State. It is exactly what our people asked us to do, and exactly what is contained in this budget,” Namadi said.
He commended members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly for their dedication and cooperation throughout the budget process, noting that their participation during citizen engagement sessions, bilateral meetings, high-level discussions and committee deliberations ensured the smooth passage of the budget.
Governor Namadi also praised members of the State Executive Council for approving and actively taking part in the citizen engagement exercise, describing their efforts often extending late into the night as a clear demonstration of commitment to inclusive governance.
The governor further acknowledged the critical role played by the Jigawa State Civil Service in compiling the budget, applauding civil servants for their professionalism and dedication.
Dr. Namadi assured them of his administration’s continued commitment to improving their welfare.
He also expressed appreciation to Senior Special Advisers, Technical Advisers, Special Advisers and Special Assistants, particularly those in the education, health and agriculture sectors, for their technical inputs and contributions to the successful completion of the budget process.
Governor Namadi thanked the people of Jigawa State for their sustained support and active participation, stressing that without their involvement, the administration would not have achieved such an inclusive budget.
While describing the 2026 budget as ambitious, he said it remains realistic because it is rooted in the genuine needs of the citizens.
He assured the House of Assembly, the State Executive Council, civil servants and the general public that the budget would be fully implemented.
“By the grace of Allah, this budget will be fully executed for the benefit of the people of Jigawa State,” he assured.
The governor concluded by praying for divine guidance, resources and strength to ensure the successful implementation of the budget, calling on Allah to bless Jigawa State and its people.
