Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed profound shock and deep sorrow over the sudden death of two serving members of the Kano State House of Assembly who died on Wednesday.

Governor Yusuf’s reaction was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf described the near-simultaneous deaths of Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, who represented Kano Municipal Local Government Area and served as Chairman of the House Committee on Pilgrims, and Hon. Aminu Sa’adu, the lawmaker representing Ungoggo Local Government Area and Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, as a dark and heartbreaking moment in the history of Kano State.

He noted that the loss of the two lawmakers has left a deep void in the Assembly and the state, given their contributions to governance and public service

The Governor said the tragedy has left the government and people of Kano in collective grief, stressing that the loss of two vibrant lawmakers within hours is a heartbreaking tragedy that words can hardly describe.

According to him, the deceased legislators were dedicated public servants, loyal politicians, and dependable voices of their constituents, whose commitment to lawmaking and grassroots representation remained unquestionable.

Governor Yusuf stated that Kano State has lost two sons who devoted their lives to public service, adding that their sudden departures have created a painful vacuum in the Assembly and in their respective communities.

He extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the leadership and members of the Kano State House of Assembly, and the people of Kano Municipal and Ungoggo Local Government Areas.

The governor prayed that Allah (SWT) forgives their shortcomings, envelopes them in His infinite mercy, admits them into Aljannatul Firdaus, and grants their families and the entire people of Kano the strength to endure the monumental loss.

Governor Yusuf called on the people of the state to remain calm, united, and prayerful, describing the tragedy as a test of faith and collective resilience.

Hon. Amin Saad has been buried at Ungoggo cemetary, while the funeral rites of Hon. Sarki Aliyu will take place by 10am at the Emir’s palace mosque on Thursday morning.

“On behalf of the government and the good people of Kano state, we wish to extend our condolence to the Kano State House of Assembly under the able leadership of the Speaker Rt. Hon. Jibrin Ismail Falgore and the families of the deceased lawmakers. May jannatul firdaus be thier final abode, amin.”
