Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has announced the release of 38 people abducted during the recent attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.
The victims regained their freedom on Sunday, November 23, after what the Governor described as days of coordinated efforts by security agencies and government officials.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq praised President Bola Tinubu for his “hands-on approach,” saying the President personally led the push to secure the safe return of the abductees.
He noted that Tinubu cancelled his planned trip to the G20 meeting in South Africa to focus on the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi states.
According to the statement, the President also ordered heightened security deployments to Kwara, including the dispatch of four new tactical police teams, underscoring his commitment to citizens’ safety.
The Governor expressed appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force for their contributions to the rescue effort.
He also thanked traditional rulers, religious institutions, community leaders, and residents of the state for their support and prayers since the incident.
