The Inter-Tribe Community Support Forum (ICSF), a leading socio-cultural organisation promoting unity and community development in Kano State, has praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for revoking the sale of three public schools in Sabon Gari, Mai Kwatashi Boys, Zawaye, and Dan Wari.
In a statement on Sunday signed by its Secretary General, Mrs. Esther AB Kingsley, and Coordinator, Amb. Nworisa Michael, the Forum described the governor’s decision as timely, visionary, and patriotic, noting that it protects long-standing educational institutions that have served children from diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
ICSF stated that although some schools may have experienced a decline in recent years, reclaiming them demonstrates the governor’s appreciation of Kano’s plural identity and his commitment to prioritizing public interest over private gain.
“Public schools are not just centres of learning; they are community symbols where bonds of friendship and unity are nurtured,” the Forum said.
It added that the governor’s action reaffirms his administration’s dedication to inclusive education, youth empowerment, and peaceful coexistence among the state’s multi-tribal population.
ICSF commended the step as a strong show of leadership rooted in justice, accountability, and people-centred governance, stressing that education must remain a public trust and not a commodity for sale.
The Forum urged residents, especially youths and communities in Sabon Gari, to support government efforts to preserve, rehabilitate, and effectively utilise the schools for future generations.
ICSF further applauded Governor Yusuf for consistently standing with the people, noting that his administration continues to embody the values of responsiveness and inclusivity.
