Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maximizing the economic opportunities of the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project.
He stated this at the AKK Business Development Roadshow, themed “Accelerating Domestic Gas Utilisation and Driving the CNG Revolution along the AKK Corridor,” held on Thursday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Lokoja.
Governor Ododo described Kogi State as a hub of potential driven by the unfolding gas revolution.
“Kogi State is a confluence of pipelines, prosperities, and opportunities,” he declared. “Our people entrusted us with a mandate, and we must ensure it works for them.
“I am happy this development is taking place during our time. We will continue to consult and work for the happiness of our people.”
In his keynote address, the Governor emphasized the strategic importance of the AKK project to the state’s industrial and economic future.
“Today’s gathering marks a defining moment in our journey towards economic transformation, industrial expansion, and sustainable development.
“We are united by a shared purpose to unlock the immense potential of the AKK Gas Pipeline and explore the opportunities it presents for investment, innovation, and industrial growth in Kogi State and across Nigeria,” he said.
Executive Vice President, PI CNG, Olalekan Ogunleye, also addressed participants, noting the growing private-sector interest in the project.
“We felt it was important, as we approach the final stages of the Abuja–Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano pipeline project, to create a platform like this for experience sharing and investor engagement,” he said.
He added that Kogi is strategically positioned to benefit from the project, stressing that, “It cannot be a major pipeline project without the Nigerian gas pipeline terminating in Ajaokuta.”
The $2.8 billion AKK pipeline is nearing completion, with 83.05% of the mainline already laid as of July 2025.
Once operational, it is expected to deliver up to 2.2 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day to power industries and boost electricity supply in Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano.
