Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the Bola Tinubu-led administration of failing Nigerians amid worsening hunger, insecurity, and economic hardship.

In his Independence Day message, Atiku praised citizens for their “uncommon patience and resilience” despite what he described as suffocating socio-economic conditions under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

He lamented rising food scarcity, mass unemployment, banditry, and what he termed “a dangerous climate of hopelessness,” alleging that the APC government had abandoned the welfare of its people.

“It is tragic that in a country blessed with immense resources, millions have been reduced to refugees and beggars.

“Hunger is killing Nigerians, bandits are massacring communities, yet President Tinubu and his cabinet remain unmoved,” Atiku said.

The opposition leader urged Nigerians not to lose hope, reminding them that the 2027 elections present an opportunity to reject “inept leadership” and reclaim the country’s promise of a better tomorrow.

“At 65, Nigeria remains a giant moving painfully slow on feet of clay, a direct result of decades of poor leadership and wasteful governance. But with the right leadership, the nation can still rise and reclaim its rightful place among nations,” he added.

Atiku also wished Nigerians a happy Independence Day, expressing optimism that with the ballot, citizens still hold the power to effect change.
