Nigeria’s Super Eagles B ended their 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign with a 2-0 victory over Congo in their final Group D match on Tuesday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
Both sides were already out of contention, but Nigeria secured their first win of the tournament thanks to second-half goals from Anas Yusuf in the 57th minute and Alimi Yusuf in stoppage time.
The win lifted Nigeria to third place in the group, while Congo finished bottom with two points. However, earlier defeats to Senegal (0-1) and Sudan (0-4) had already sealed the Eagles’ early exit.
Head coach Eric Chelle lauded his team’s resilience, though fans were left disappointed by the elimination despite the late flourish. Senegal and Sudan advanced to the quarterfinals.
