The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami, has passed away at the age of 81.
The Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Umar-Dutsinmari, confirmed the monarch’s death in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
He said the Emir died on Saturday night in a London hospital after a brief illness.
The late Emir is survived by four wives and seven children.
In its condolence message, the Kebbi State Government expressed deep sympathy to his immediate family, the Zuru Emirate Council, the people of Zuru, and the entire Kebbi State.
It prayed for Allah’s mercy upon his soul and for his admission into Aljannatul Firdaus.
Details of the burial arrangements will be announced later.
