The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Kano Region, has carried out a demolition exercise to remove illegal structures built within its Transmission Right of Way (RoW) in Kano metropolis.

In a statement on its verified Facebook page, TCN said the operation, conducted on August 13, 2025, was executed “with precision and determination,” reflecting its commitment to protecting the integrity of the national transmission network. Although the agency did not disclose the number of affected structures, it described the clearance as essential for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the power transmission system.

Acting under the directive of its Encroachment and Anti-Vandalism Committee, TCN’s team targeted unauthorized developments along the Kano–Zaria 330kV line and the Duste–Azare 132kV line, particularly in the Dangoro communities. It stressed that these power lines are vital to Nigeria’s energy infrastructure and warned that any encroachment or vandalism could have serious consequences for power supply across the region. The agency added that the exercise was a proactive measure to safeguard the national grid, protect surrounding communities, and send a clear warning to potential encroachers and vandals.
