Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called on voters in Ghari, Tsanyawa, Bagwai, and Shanono constituencies to reflect on the “rapid development” achieved under the Kwankwasiyya-led New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) administration over the past two years when casting their ballots in Saturday’s State House of Assembly re-run and by-elections.

Speaking at a campaign rally ahead of the polls, Governor Yusuf listed numerous projects in health, education, and human development delivered by his administration, including the construction of classrooms, sponsorship of hundreds of youths for local and overseas studies, and empowerment of thousands of women with monthly N50,000 start-up capital.

“All these efforts were aimed at improving the living standards of our people in these constituencies,” he said in a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The governor urged voters to reject what he described as “poor governance and neglect” under the immediate past administration.

“Now, they have returned to seek your valuable votes. I am confident you will not elect these enemies of the state,” he said.

Governor Yusuf also announced budgetary provisions for the construction of the Mashatsa–Gwarzo–Shanono–Tanyawa road, the upgrade of Shanono Hospital to a General Hospital, and a water supply project linking the constituency to a nearby dam.

He urged residents, whom he described as steadfast vanguards of Kwankwasiyya and the NNPP, to vote for Dr. Ali Alasan Kiyawa in Bagwai/Shanono and Hon. Yusuf Ali Maigado in Ghari/Tsanyawa to ensure the continuation of “people-oriented governance.”

While encouraging voters to turn out en masse for the NNPP, the governor also appealed to youths aged 18 and above without Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) to get ready for the next INEC registration exercise.

Other NNPP leaders at the rally, including Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the state party chairman, ALGON chairperson, and chairmen of Shanono and Bagwai LGAs, echoed the call for voters to back the NNPP and “rescue the constituencies from the wasteful eight years of the APC.”
