The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State, John Nwosu, has lashed out at Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, accusing him of making “insulting and demeaning” statements during a recent campaign rally.

Soludo, while addressing supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area, reportedly mocked opposition candidates, declaring that “street urchins cannot govern a state that has produced prominent individuals.”

He also derided aspirants pledging to serve only one term in line with Anambra’s zoning arrangement, saying such individuals “need psychiatric evaluation.”

In a swift and scathing response, Nwosu condemned the governor’s remarks as unbecoming of a public leader and an attempt to deflect attention from what he described as the failures of the Soludo administration.

“Passing six is not passing sense,” Nwosu quipped, taking a jab at the governor.

He added: “It is deeply troubling that Governor Soludo has resorted to name-calling and reckless stereotyping of his opponents. His comments betray a fear of not securing re-election, largely due to his underwhelming performance in office.”

Reaffirming his commitment to the Anambra South zoning agreement, Nwosu highlighted that he remains the only candidate to have signed a public affidavit pledging to serve a single term if elected, describing it as a bold demonstration of integrity and fairness.

“Rather than ridicule those offering the people of Anambra a credible alternative, the governor should be explaining why his campaign promises have fallen flat,” he said.

“I stand out as the only candidate to publicly declare in legal terms that I will do just one term. That is a mark of leadership, not weakness.”

Concluding his statement, Nwosu fired another broadside at Soludo’s leadership:

“Anambra deserves smart, digital governance, not Soludo’s archaic module.”
