President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Saddiq Ismaila Kaita as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
AVM Kaita takes over from Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who also currently serves as Chairman of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).
According to the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the decision was made to allow Dr Gawuna focus fully on his FHA responsibilities.
AVM Kaita, a former Director of Strategy at the Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence, Transformation and Innovation, is recognised for his significant contributions to training and standardisation in the Nigerian Air Force prior to his retirement.
