Kyiv endured another massive overnight drone assault, with Russian attacks killing at least two people and injuring 13 others, according to Ukrainian officials.

Fires broke out across six districts of the capital after drone debris struck a residential building in the central Shevchenkivskyi area.

Footage circulating on social media captured explosions lighting up the night sky, as Ukrainian air defence systems responded. While the videos remain unverified, authorities confirmed damage to homes, vehicles, offices, and warehouses. Kyiv’s military administration chief, Tymur Tkachenko, said: “These people were killed by the Russians. This is a terrible loss.”

Residents were urged to stay in shelters and keep windows closed due to heavy smoke in the city. The Ukrainian military also warned of a potential ballistic missile threat.

This latest assault follows Ukraine’s report of the largest aerial barrage to date on Tuesday night, when 728 drones and 13 cruise or ballistic missiles were launched across multiple regions.

Meanwhile, in eastern Ukraine, three people were killed in a Russian airstrike on Kostiantynivka, near the frontline, according to Ukraine’s emergency service.

In a related development, Reuters reported that the United States has resumed weapons shipments to Ukraine, just days after halting critical air defense deliveries.

U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking on Tuesday, voiced his frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “We get a lot of bullshit thrown at us by Putin,” he said. “He’s very nice to us all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless.”

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded calmly, saying, “Trump’s way of talking is generally quite harsh.”

Despite continued communication between the two leaders, no meaningful progress has been made toward a ceasefire. Although Trump once claimed he could end the war in a day, he has yet to impose sanctions on Russia since taking office in January.

Russia’s military has not commented on the latest drone attacks. The full-scale invasion of Ukraine, launched by President Putin, began in February 2022.
