In celebration of the 2025 World Environment Day, the Dibal Foundation, in collaboration with Aspira Nigeria Limited, on Saturday, carried out a sensitization campaign and donated household items to women and families in Tokarawa in Kano State, the host community of Aspira’s manufacturing plant.
The event, held in the heart of the community, focused on raising awareness about climate change, effective plastic waste management, and innovative strategies for transforming waste into economic opportunities.
Community women participated actively in the session, which was designed to promote environmental consciousness and practical sustainability.
While speaking at the event, Executive Director of the Dibal Foundation, Amin Buba Dibal, emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement in combating climate-related challenges.
“Dibal Foundation is committed to building climate-resilient women and communities across Kano.
“We believe that empowering women with environmental knowledge is key to creating long-term change,” she said.
As part of the event, Aspira Nigeria Limited donated various hygiene and cleaning products to residents of Tokarawa as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The donations were aimed at promoting hygiene and well-being in the community while reinforcing the importance of eco-friendly practices.
A total of 150 women benefited from the sensitization exercise and received packs containing essential cleaning items, including detergent, liquid soap, bathing soap, as well as exercise books and T-shirts.
A representative of Aspira Nigeria Limited, Ilajiya Lawan, from the Marketing and CSR Department, reiterated the company’s commitment to community development and environmental stewardship.
“Aspira remains fully committed to the well-being of our host communities.
“Supporting environmental awareness and community health through programs like this reflects our dedication to shared prosperity,” the representative stated.
Participants expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting that it not only provided valuable knowledge but also strengthened community bonds.
The event concluded with a pledge from both organizations to continue fostering partnerships that empower communities and protect the environment.
