Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of renowned broadcaster, Bilkisu Babangida, who died at the age of 56 on Tuesday in Abuja after a prolonged illness.
The condolence message was conveyed in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf described the late Hajiya Bilkisu as a trailblazer in the field of broadcasting, whose career left a lasting legacy in the media industry.
He noted that through her work, particularly with the Voice of America (VOA) and BBC Hausa Service, she inspired many with her dedication, integrity, and passion for journalism.
“She used her platform to tell important stories, amplify unheard voices, and foster unity. Her contributions to the media will not be forgotten,” the governor stated.
On behalf of the government and people of Kano State, Governor Yusuf prayed for Allah’s mercy on her soul and for her to be granted eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus.
He also extended his heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues in the media, and all those touched by her life and work, praying for comfort and strength during this difficult time.
