PDP Repositions for Victory in Ekiti 2026 Governorship Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest has declared that the party’s structure in Ekiti State is undergoing a strategic repositioning ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Speaking at Ikere Ekiti during the inauguration of various committees to mobilize support for PDP governorship aspirant, Dr. Wole Oluyede, the party’s South West Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati, said the PDP remains strong and vibrant as efforts to resolve internal leadership crises at the national level continue.

“PDP is alive, active, and bustling. The process of resolving the crisis rocking the national leadership is ongoing.

“We are determined to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State,” Atofarati said.

He charged party stakeholders to remain united and focus on the goal ahead, warning the APC government in Ekiti to begin preparing its exit plan.

“There is no longer room for divide-and-rule tactics in our party. We appeal to the people of Ikere Ekiti and the South Senatorial District not to settle for a deputy governorship slot, accept nothing less than the governorship ticket,” he added.

According to Atofarati, the presence of party leaders from the national and zonal levels at the event underscored the PDP’s commitment to reclaiming power in Ekiti.

“This time, we are not letting go. PDP is united at all levels and ready for victory,” he said.

He also called on stakeholders from the Central and Northern Senatorial Districts to join forces in ensuring the party’s success in 2026.

The PDP Zonal Organising Secretary, Benson Amuwa, echoed similar sentiments, noting that the party is undergoing a rebuilding phase and will soon hold its National Executive Committee meeting and national convention to strengthen its structure.

Amuwa expressed confidence in Oluyede’s candidacy, describing him as a philanthropist who invested his resources in community development.

“The people of Ekiti will reward his selflessness with their votes. The electorate wants leaders they can trust, not recycled political figures,” he stated.

Other prominent PDP figures at the event included former Ondo State Commissioner for Community Development, Clement Faboyede; former Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Kola Oluwawole; ex-legislator Wale Ayeni; Lanre Fajuyi, Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor; Rasak Adewoyin; and Samuel Agboola.
