Sokoto State Government, on Wednesday, distributed official vehicles to Judges and Khadis serving across the state.

The distribution exercise, which took place at the Government House Sokoto, underscores the administration’s commitment to the rule of law and improved working conditions for members of the judiciary.

The presentation of the vehicles was carried out by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the Sarkin Yamma of Sokoto, who stood on behalf of Governor Ahmed Aliyu.

Wamakko, a respected political figure and former governor of the state, described the gesture as a vital step toward in strengthening the independence and performance of the judicial arm of government.

Speaking at the event, Senator Wamakko emphasized that the judiciary remains a cornerstone of democracy and must be empowered to discharge its duties without hindrance.

“This administration recognizes the critical role of the judiciary in maintaining law and order. Providing them with official vehicles is not just symbolic it is a practical demonstration of our support,” he said.

He praised Governor Ahmed Aliyu for prioritizing the needs of the judiciary despite competing demands on the state’s resources.

Wamakko also highlighted that the gesture aligns with the vision of the present administration to ensure that all arms of government are adequately supported to function effectively.

The beneficiaries of the official vehicles included High Court Judges, Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal, and other judicial officers.

Each official received a brand-new, government-assigned vehicle, with specifications suited for their duties and mobility needs across the state’s expansive terrain.

In his address, the Chief Judge of Sokoto State expressed gratitude to the Governor and commended Senator Wamakko for his continued support to the judiciary.

He noted that the provision of vehicles would ease logistical challenges and allow for more timely and efficient adjudication of cases.

Similarly, the Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal lauded the initiative, describing it as a morale booster for Khadis who often face transport-related difficulties in reaching remote court locations.

“With these vehicles, we are more empowered to carry out our sacred responsibility to the people and the Almighty,” he added.

Senator Wamakko used the occasion to reaffirm his loyalty to the development of Sokoto State, calling on other leaders to work together for the state’s progress.

He further charged the judicial officers to use the vehicles responsibly and ensure that the people of Sokoto benefit from an accessible and functional justice system.

The event was attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, members of the judiciary, and community leaders.

It concluded with the formal handing over of keys and documentation to the recipients, followed by a tour of the vehicles stationed within the Government House premises.
