Kano Constitutes 6-Man Project Monitoring Committee, Ma’aji Sumaila As Chairman

To ensure all projects are closely monitored, and value for money guaranteed, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf constituted a 6-man State Projects Monitoring Committee.

The committee has Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, Hon. Commissioner of Ministry for Public Procurement Project Monitoring and Evaluation (PPPM&E), as a Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, member, and Engr. Marwan Ahmad, Hon. Commissioner of Ministry of Works and Housing, member

Others are Ali Haruna Makoda, Commissioner of Education, member, Hon. Nasiru Sule Garo, Hon. Commissioner Ministry for Special Duties, member, and Muhammad Habibu Sale, Chairman of the Kano Projects Protection Association (Kano PRO-PA) also a member.

On 1st February 2025, the committee held its maiden meeting at the PPPM&E office to define modalities and come up with terms of reference.

The meeting suggested that Civil Society Organizations, Community Based Organizations, and Non-governmental organizations should be included in the activities of the committee as a participatory approach to assess the progress and impact of community projects and programs.

The Kano State government has approved more than 300 projects across the state with the Ministry of Work and the Ministry of Education as client ministries providing information to the honorable Commissioners from those ministries will help the 6-man committee to execute its work judiciously.
